PUMP ROAD
Serious issues have arisen with cars parking on the new footpath on the Pump Road.
At match and training times children are crossing the road with drivers sight impeded because of cars parked along the road - it is a serious accident waiting to happen.
Eventually double yellow lines will be put in place and we are still pressing urgently for a pedestrian crossing.
When the double yellows are put in place Patrickswell Gardai have promised to call regularly and WILL issue parking fines to anybody not using the car parks in the area.
In the meantime MCC have sent texts to everyone on the database asking them not to park on the pump road and to politely ask visitors to the area to do likewise.
We are also placing leaflets under car wipers with the same request.
THE VILLAGE
Despite an enormous car park (church) opposite the new wide footpath in the village, and two pedestrian crossings, people are hell bent intent on parking any which way they like outside the Post Office and Credit Union, often forcing people out on to the road in order to navigate the village. This is most unfair on people especially people with pushchairs.
Please note that the shared use section has only a lip for a kerb. This defines the shared use. If the footpath has a high kerb it is NOT intended for parking!
The shared use section is designed for temporary car parking (NOT OVERNIGHT PARKING!!) but as long as people show due consideration for pedestrians.
